Icelandair Sponsors Equitrekking(R) on Public Television

Progressive International Airline Supports Global Equestrian Travel Television Series

WASHINGTON, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Public Television equestrian travel series Equitrekking is pleased to announce Icelandair's sponsorship of its second season of exotic, high definition episodes, premiering nationally beginning in January on Public Television.

Equitrekking, the first travel television series to take viewers on horseback riding adventures around the world, debuted on Public Television in 2007 with outstanding episodes from the United States and Europe. Second season episodes include Iceland, Coastal Ireland, Maui, Virginia Hunt Country, California Wine Country, Hawaii's Big Island and the Irish Countryside.

"Having recently filmed in Iceland and sampled some of the country's spectacular natural scenery and adventure travel activities, we are delighted to partner with Icelandair," said equestrian travel expert Darley Newman, Equitrekking's host and producer. "It was thrilling to ride the Icelandic horses and explore the history and close connection the Icelanders have with this pure breed."

In Iceland, the Equitrekking crew filmed a traditional Icelandic horse drive to Iceland's Golden Waterfalls, snowmobiling on Iceland's second largest glacier, a Reykjavik spa, an Icelandic horse show and a ride through lava fields, lakes and otherworldly terrain with local Icelanders.

"Icelandair is always pleased to support Public Television and especially delighted to have Iceland so well portrayed on Equitrekking," said Gunnar Eklund, Icelandair's General Manager-The Americas. "As the national airline, we have an affinity for Iceland," he added, "and the unique nature and animals that have attracted visitors for more than a millennium, when Iceland's first guests traveled with their distinctive breed of horses aboard Viking ships."

Icelandair offers flights and vacation packages to Iceland from seven major cities in the US and Canada with connecting flights to Scandinavia, Great Britain and Continental Europe.
