AT&T U-verse Expands Availability To More Than 170,000 Living Units In San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- San Antonio football fans who don't want to miss any Dallas Cowboys games this season can breathe a sigh of relief. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced that AT&T U-verse(SM) TV is now available to more than 170,000 living units in the San Antonio area, and the expansion comes just in time for fans who want access to football 24/7, including the Dallas Cowboys -- Green Bay Packers game, which will be telecast exclusively on NFL Network on Thursday, Nov. 29.
"The Cowboys have a tremendous following in San Antonio, and these fans will be able to watch Cowboys' games throughout the season once they make the switch to AT&T U-verse," said Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. "I believe that U-verse TV is one of the most exciting television choices available today, and certainly U-verse subscribers will be the most popular people on the block when the Cowboys play the Packers on Nov. 29 and the Panthers next month on NFL Network. They're going to make the neighbors jealous."
Beginning Thanksgiving Day and continuing through the end of the year, NFL Network exclusively televises the Run to the Playoffs package, a series of Thursday and Saturday night NFL games, including the Cowboys - Packers game Thursday, Nov. 29, and the Dallas Cowboys - Carolina Panthers game Saturday, Dec. 22, both airing at 7:15 p.m. CST. Some San Antonio football fans will not have access to these high-profile games through their local cable provider. AT&T U-verse offers NFL Network in its most popular programming tiers - U200 and above - which start as low as $59 a month. NFL Network HD is also available on U-verse TV with HD service for an additional $10 a month.
"We continue to grow so that more San Antonio residents can turn to U- verse TV for the content they want, including channels like NFL Network," said Mikal Harn, AT&T vice president and general manager for San Antonio. "Local football fans who want to watch these Cowboys games should call us now so they can be ready to go on game day."
Since introducing AT&T U-verse services in San Antonio, AT&T has expanded availability of the service on an ongoing basis, and there are plans to continue reaching even more customers.
San Antonio was the first city in which AT&T U-verse services were deployed, thanks to progressive legislation passed in September 2005 by the Texas Legislature and signed by Gov. Rick Perry.
AT&T is the only national provider to offer a 100 percent Internet Protocol-based television (IPTV) service, making AT&T U-verse TV one of the most advanced television offerings available anywhere. AT&T U-verse has been recognized as the 2007 Best Business Strategy by industry analyst firm Stratecast.
The deployment of next-generation video services, including AT&T U-verse TV and AT&T Homezone(SM), reflects AT&T's strategy to become customers' preferred communications and entertainment provider and to deliver a video solution through its traditional footprint that provides greater value, flexibility and simplicity than competitors' offerings.
