SC Governor guest on Leave Us Alone Show with Grover Norquist

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and host of the monthly "Leave Us Alone" radio show, will interview Gov. Mark Sanford (R) about his plans to implement transparency in government spending in South Carolina. The show airs on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. EDT. Listeners can hear the show live and repeated throughout the day on http://www.rightalk.com/.

Thanks to an executive order signed by the governor, taxpayers in the Palmetto State will soon join a growing number of taxpayers who can track their tax dollars at a mouse click. Executive Order 2007-14 mandates the creation of a searchable website for state expenditures including grants, contracts and subcontracts. The executive order furthermore requires each agency to establish a searchable website on its own webpage for specific agency expenditures, such as travel, office supplies and contractual expenditures of $100 and over.

"Spending transparency is the next big thing. Governor Sanford - a true friend of the taxpayer - understands that taxpayers deserve to be able to track their tax dollars at a mouse click. I commend him for taking this huge leap forward for fiscal accountability," said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.
