Put Texas, and an Epiphone Texan Guitar, in Your Corner
Put Texas, and an Epiphone Texan Guitar, in Your Corner
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Can you write a jingle that makes drivers tingle? The Texas Department of Transportation's campaign promoting vehicle registration compliance -- Put Texas in Your Corner(TM) -- is tuning up yet another way to tell Texans that keeping vehicles registered helps to build highways, roads, and bridges. Only in this instance, Texans are carrying (or rather, singing) the message, and Gibson will be presenting the contest winners in each of four categories with a limited-edition Epiphone Texan guitar.
"The Put Texas in your corner campaign is popular as well as successful," said Rebecca Davio, director of TxDOT's Vehicle Titles and Registration Division. "Our radio jingles which urge everyone to 'check the date, love your state and put Texas in your corner' have been an important part of that success. Now, in conjunction with the launch of our exciting new http://www.registeredtexan.com/ interactive Web site, we want to offer the opportunity for talented Texans to submit their own jingles. Winning jingles will be featured on the new Web site and, who knows, maybe even used in our statewide radio campaigns! Vehicle registration fees help build and maintain the highways, roads and bridges we use every day. We're looking forward to seeing, and hearing, how our fellow Texans would help us spread that musical message."
"The Gibson tour bus logs a lot of miles in Texas, and we appreciate the importance of good roads," said Don Pitts, Gibson Entertainment Relations. "That's why we're involved with this program and are happy to offer these guitars to the winners. We've enlisted judges from the Texas division of the Recording Academy -- you may have heard of it, they do a little competition each year called The Grammys! We'll choose four winners and reward each winner a limited-edition Texan Epiphone guitar. We think it's pretty cool to participate with TxDOT and find the next great jingle -- actually, jingles -- for this campaign."
