U.S. News & World Report Debuts First Annual 'Best Places to Retire' Special Issue
U-S News and World Report has published its first annual "Best Places to Retire" issue, featuring an in-depth look at the nation's most attractive communities for tomorrow's active retirees.
In conjunction with the publication of "Best Places to Retire," U-S News and World Report has created a proprietary search engine to help America's next generation of retirees find the best places to spend their golden years. Using data from more than one-thousand different towns across the country, the "Best Places to Retire" search engine enables users to narrow their choices based on seven different preferences -- crime rates, healthcare, cost of housing, region, recreational and cultural activities, social environment, and weather. Once a user has ranked their preferences, the search engine will produce a prioritized list of ten different locations which meet those unique criteria.
The "Best Places to Retire" special report also includes a detailed look at the magazine's own picks for the top ten hot spots. They are, in alphabetical order: Bozeman, Montana; Concord, New Hampshire; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Hillsboro, Oregon; Lawrence, Kansas; Peachtree City, Georgia; Prescott, Arizona; San Francisco, California, Smyrna, Tennessee, and Venice, Florida.

NASA Orbiter Finds Possible Cave Skylights on Mars
NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft has discovered entrances to seven possible caves on the slopes of a Martian volcano. The find is fueling interest in potential underground habitats and sparking searches for caverns elsewhere on the Red Planet.
Very dark, nearly circular features ranging in diameter from about 328 to 820 feet puzzled researchers who found them in images taken by NASA's Mars Odyssey and Mars Global Surveyor orbiters. Using Mars Odyssey's infrared camera to check the daytime and nighttime temperatures of the circles, scientists concluded that they could be windows into underground spaces.
