National Museum of Women in the Arts Hosts First Annual Film Fest

NMWA Festival of Women's Film and Media Arts September 25-30

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by the National Museum of Women in the Arts:

WHO: Women filmmakers from around the world

WHAT: NMWA's inaugural Festival of Women's Film and Media Arts
brings together the best of film, video, media performance,
and installations of all lengths and genres from more than
40 countries and seven continents.

The festival's six-day run will include 180 films and
videos and seven installations culled from more than 800
entries, with an emphasis on works that are socially and
artistically relevant; that highlight the talents of
outstanding contemporary youth, transgendered and women
filmmakers; and address the continuing disparity between
women and men filmmakers. Each screening will be followed
by a question-and-answer session that will allow attendees
to discuss the works with the filmmakers.
