Line 6 and Bogner Fuse Modeling Flexibility With Tube Amp Peformance: Introducing Spider Valve

Line 6 and Bogner Fuse Modeling Flexibility With Tube Amp Peformance: Introducing Spider Valve

CALABASAS, Calif., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Line 6, Inc., creators of the award-winning POD(R), Spider(TM) III, Variax(R) and Vetta(TM) series of modeling devices, guitars and amps, are very pleased to announce their new line of Spider Valve(TM) tube-based amplifiers, the result of their breakthrough collaboration with tube amp titan Reinhold Bogner.

Just as Line 6 revolutionized the world of amps through their pioneering amp and effect technology, they now expand and explode the possibilities of tube amp performance by applying that same tonal range and superior fidelity to Bogner's all-tube power amp design, audiophile component selection and stellar voicing.

Let there be no mistake: Spider Valve is not one of those so-called "hybrid" amps that talk "tube" but don't deliver the guts or glory onstage. The performance, response and feel delivered by the matched Spider Valve 6L6 power tubes, 12AX7 preamp tubes and Premium Celestion(R) Vintage 30 speakers -- combined with twelve Line 6 amp models and seven SmartControl effects -- displays all the gorgeous cascading distortion and enriched harmonics that tube enthusiasts demand, brilliantly allied with the state-of-the-art Line 6 modeling mojo essential to today's working players.

You wouldn't expect anything less from a partnership between Line 6 and Reinhold Bogner, the legendary German amp guru whose coveted all-tube Bogner combos and heads are holy grails for legions of discerning pros. In deep collaboration with Line 6, Bogner applied his mastery and craftsmanship to virtually every aspect of the Spider Valve design and construction, from mapping the signal path and voicing the speakers right down to specifying bolts and washers.

"Professional guitarists have asked us for an amp that combines the sonic versatility of Line 6 modeling with the power and performance that a well-crafted tube amp delivers on stage," says Marcus Ryle, Line 6 Cofounder and Senior VP of Research and Development, "With Reinhold Bogner we found the ideal design partner to create this 'best of both worlds'. We are truly honored by his collaboration, craftsmanship and what we have been able to achieve together with Spider Valve."

Spider Valve amps will be available in three versions. The Spider 112 ($969.99 list) pairs a 40W Class AB tube amp with two 12AX7 preamp tubes, two 6L6 power tubes and a single 12" Celestion Vintage 30 speaker. The Spider Valve 212 ($1159.99 list) features the same power amp and tube array as the 112, but with two Celestion Vintage 30s. The Spider Valve HD-100 ($1099.99 list) packs two 12AX7 preamp tubes, four 6L6 power tubes and 100 watts into a stylish head with matching 4x12 cabinet, loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s ($969.99 list). Each model features 12 channels of modeling, as well as modulation, delay and reverb effects, programmable presets, on-board tuner, tap-tempo, noise gate and many other extra features.
