SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Sixteen of the top game show contestants in the United States came together to challenge each other's skills and intelligence on the fastest and most intense game show ever created, GRAND SLAM. After 14 matches in the single elimination tournament, two champions, Ken Jennings and Ogi Ogas remain standing. The final match of the smartest game show on television is Saturday, September 8 at 7 PM ET/6 PM CT on GSN.
"The winner of the GRAND SLAM final will deserve to be called the game show king," said Ogas. "I think I'll be the one."
Jennings responded with a laugh and added, "If I win, this is definitely a coronation."
Jennings, the #2 seed in the tournament, is no stranger to winning after a record 74 consecutive victories on "Jeopardy". On his way to the GRAND SLAM final, he defeated #15 Victor Lee, (2007 "World Series of Pop Culture" winner) in the first round, then beat #10 Phyllis Harris ("Wheel of Fortune," "Card Sharks," "Millionaire" and other game shows winner) and knocked off the upset specialist, #14 Michelle Kitt, who was the only "Weakest Link" champion in the field in the semi-finals.
Ogas, a brain science graduate student at Boston University, is the #9 seed in the tournament. He defeated the #8 seed, #1 seed and #5 seed to make it to the finals. In his opening match Ogas defeated Nancy Christy, the first and only woman to win "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire," followed by an upset of "Jeopardy" champion and top seed Brad Rutter and finally "Twenty-One" champion David Legler in the semifinals.
The Jennings-Ogas winner will walk away with the $100,000 grand prize and the coveted GRAND SLAM crystal trophy. Dennis Miller and Amanda Byram are the hosts of GRAND SLAM. Pat Kiernan handles the role of questioner. Michael Davies is the Executive Producer of GRAND SLAM.
