Harris Corporation's CENTRIO(TM) Broadcast Multiviewer Gaining Worldwide Acceptance
France 3 Orders CENTRIO(TM) Prior to Its European Debut at IBC2007
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, announced that its award-winning CENTRIO(TM) multiviewer is gaining wide acceptance across the industry -- as demonstrated by recent orders received from customers worldwide. Making its European debut at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, CENTRIO(TM) has gained early market recognition as a cost-effective solution for streamlining complex, large-system multi-display monitoring applications.
CENTRIO(TM) is a breakthrough multi-image processor featuring superior graphics, broadcast-quality routing and integrated test and measurement tools. Since its introduction at the 2007 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention, CENTRIO(TM) has become the solution of choice for customers around the world, including Shenzhen TV in southern China; TV Anhanguera in Brazil; Global Ontario in Canada; and French public television network France 3 Ajaccio, which is the first European customer to order the new multiviewer.
"We have never seen anything like the CENTRIO multiviewer on the market before, and we feel it is an exciting new concept that will be very important to the industry going forward," said Jean Luc Hachon, project manager at France 3. "The CENTRIO(TM) graphics engine's unprecedented toolkit includes scrolling PiPs and text, as well as integrated test and measurement capabilities. We plan to take full advantage of these capabilities to create more vivid and informative images, which will significantly improve our ability to monitor the quality of our system."
Combining an advanced graphics engine and world-class routing infrastructure in a 5, 9, 15 or 28RU chassis, CENTRIO(TM) enables unique new capabilities and simplified system designs that can reduce the cost and complexity associated with traditional, large-system monitoring implementations. This innovative architecture and functionality make CENTRIO(TM) ideal for broadcast, multi-video, audio monitoring, master control rooms, broadcast trucks, events and staging applications -- anywhere dynamic access to a large number of inputs and multiple displays is required.
In any environment, the CENTRIO(TM) multiviewer's graphics engine enables customizable, state-of-the-art image layouts that allow users to create a leading-edge monitoring and control tool. For large, complex monitoring applications, its router-based architecture simplifies system design by supporting up to 512 inputs (high-definition, standard-definition, or analog) and driving up to 64 independent monitors from a single Platinum(TM) router chassis. In multi-room environments, its superior display capabilities enable easy, simultaneous control of multiple wall applications with different resolutions and multiple layouts. For mission-critical applications, its built-in audio/video test and measure capabilities, user rules creation and on-screen control allow users to view more information and respond to the system more quickly and effectively.
The CENTRIO multiviewer has been honored with TV Technology magazine's STAR Award (Superior Technology Award Recipient), which celebrates the pre- eminent technological innovations available to the industry, and the Award for Outstanding Product at the recent BIRTV exhibition in Beijing.
"We are very pleased with the industry acceptance CENTRIO(TM) has received even before its official debut in the international market," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "It's also rewarding to receive such a positive response to our ONE initiative, which represents our commitment to provide unparalleled interoperability across our product line and powerful, integrated workflow solutions to our customers. CENTRIO(TM) is a prime example of this commitment."
The CENTRIO(TM) product is part of the core processing offerings in the Harris Broadcast Communications ONE initiative to deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain. The unique Harris approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective products that are ideal for emerging media business models and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and high-definition services.
