Great News for New Jerseyans Seeking a Better Alternative to Cable TV: Verizon's Breathtaking FiOS TV Is Now Available in 24 Additional Garden State Communities
Latest Expansion Includes Parts of Hudson County; Increases to 220 the Number of New Jersey Cities and Towns Where Consumers Can Order FiOS TV
NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tens of thousands more New Jerseyans now have a prime opportunity to say "so long" to their old cable company after Verizon announced today that it is expanding its all-digital FiOS TV service to consumers in parts of 24 additional communities in the state.
"This is a great opportunity for even more New Jerseyans to experience the FiOS advantage," said William Foshay, general manager of Verizon's New Jersey region. "Since we first offered the product in January, the response to our bundle of FiOS all-digital television, super-fast Internet and crystal-clear voice services has been nothing short of amazing."
As of today, Verizon's FiOS television service is now available in 220 New Jersey communities. The two dozen most recent additions are: Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, Moonachie, Oakland and Ridgefield Park in Bergen County; parts of Jersey City in Hudson County; Lumberton, Medford, Medford Lakes, Shamong and Southampton in Burlington County; Fairfield, Livingston, North Caldwell and West Caldwell in Essex County; Aberdeen, Hazlet, Keyport, Matawan and Union Beach in Monmouth County; Montville and Mount Olive in Morris County; and Totowa and West Paterson in Passaic County.
"Many residents in these communities now have a golden opportunity to join the tens of thousands of New Jerseyans who have chosen Verizon FiOS -- an amazing television product with the best picture quality. Period," said Foshay. "FiOS TV brings something to consumers they've never had before: incredible pictures and sound and a suite of innovative new services -- all from a brand they know and trust."
Dennis Bone, president of Verizon New Jersey, said, "In just 9 months, Verizon has made FiOS TV available in 220 New Jersey communities, with many more soon to come. It's just incredible. New Jerseyans are literally standing in lines returning their old cable boxes because they've chosen Verizon for the best home entertainment product available today."
Consumers can check online at www.verizon.com/fiostv to see if FiOS TV is available in their area, or to request that Verizon contact them when FiOS TV becomes available. Customers also can call their local Verizon sales office or 1-877-4-FIOS-TV or 1-877-434-6788.
"Customers who liked what FiOS did for their Internet connection will love what it does for their TV," said Bone. "We've harnessed the speed and capacity of fiber-based broadband with the power of broadcast to create a revolutionary, new entertainment experience."
Service Highlights
Verizon's FiOS TV Premier package delivers 200 all-digital channels for $42.99 per month. The package includes 28 high-definition (HD) channels in the New Jersey market and access to more than 8,600 on-demand titles, 60 percent of which are free. Sports fans subscribing to FiOS TV Premier in the Jersey market will also receive the many sports channels broadcasting their favorite teams.
All Verizon FiOS TV-eligible customers in New Jersey have the option to trim their monthly bill by bundling FiOS TV service, FiOS Internet service and the Verizon Freedom Essentials voice service -- all for under $95 a month.
Verizon offers three set-top boxes: standard definition for $4.99 per month; high definition, which includes HD channels, for $9.99 per month; and a dual-tuner, HD-capable digital video recorder for $12.99 per month.
Verizon also offers innovative features not available from other providers, such as Home Media DVR (digital video recorder) and FiOS TV Widgets. Home Media DVR, at $19.99 per month, has a multi-room DVR feature enabling up to three simultaneous viewings of recorded programs without requiring customers to set up a complex home network or buy extra equipment. Customers also can access photos and music on their PCs and play them on their TV. FiOS TV Widgets is a free interactive feature that provides viewers with local weather and traffic information while they're watching their favorite shows.
In addition to New Jersey, Verizon currently offers FiOS TV in parts of California, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia.
Delivered over Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, FiOS TV is a formidable competitor to cable and satellite. Verizon's FTTP network delivers amazingly sharp pictures and sound, and has the capacity to transmit a wide array of high-definition programming that is so clear and intense it seems to leap from the TV screen. The company's fiber network also delivers Internet download speeds of up to 50 Mbps (megabits per second) and upload speeds of up to 5 Mbps, as well as high-quality voice service.*
The value of FiOS TV extends to the installation and customer support. Specially trained Verizon technicians will install the service and acquaint subscribers with FiOS TV features and services. Verizon is waiving the installation fee for up to three existing TV outlets, and there is no charge to install a needed optical network terminal at the subscriber's home. Charges for other installation services, such as additional outlets, may apply. Verizon provides 24 x 7 technical assistance by phone from its specialized Fiber Solutions Centers.
