Entrepreneur James Lindsay Sells Leading Snack Foods Company to Actor and Rapper Romeo Miller
GREENSBORO, N.C., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Entrepreneur James Lindsay, founder of the snack foods company Rap Snacks Inc., today announced that he has sold the privately held firm to Romeo Miller, the actor and rapper known as Lil' Romeo.
Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Founded by Lindsay in 1994 and headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., Rap Snacks Inc. is the manufacturer of the popular Rap Snacks brand of potato chips - known as "The Official Snack of Hip Hop." The company sold more than 150 million bags of chips during 2006 alone through 7-11 stores and a nationwide network of independent distributors.
Each package of Rap Snacks features the image of a rapper - from Yung Joc to Master P - along with positive messages to encourage kids to stay in school and succeed in life. Romeo Miller himself is featured on the packaging of several Rap Snacks flavors.
Lindsay will remain onboard to run the day-to-day operations of the company and is helping the 18-year-old Miller expand the Rap Snacks product portfolio. Together they hope to introduce a new line of healthy snacks for schools.
"Setting a positive role model and promoting a new generation of entrepreneurs has been an integral part of what I've tried to accomplish as Rap Snacks has grown," Lindsay said. "It seems especially fitting that the company has been bought by a young man who is getting involved in business at an early age. I look forward to remaining actively involved and to helping him take Rap Snacks to the next level."
