Amdocs Delivers a Multi-Play Mediation Solution to TV Cabo, the Largest Cable Provider in Portugal
Amdocs Service Mediation Manager replaced TV Cabo's disparate mediation systems and will enable the introduction of new Internet protocol (IP)-based, wireless and cable offerings;
Amdocs was the prime systems integrator for the project, working with Portugal Telecom Systemas de Informacao
ST. LOUIS, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amdocs (NYSE:DOX), the leading provider of customer experience systems, today announced that TV Cabo, the largest cable provider in Portugal, has deployed Amdocs Service Mediation Manager as a convergent platform, replacing its disparate mediation systems. The Amdocs platform supports TV Cabo's existing cable TV and broadband Internet offerings, and will allow the provider to introduce multi-play bundles, including new IP-based voice services. TV Cabo had also selected Amdocs as the prime systems integrator for the project, which was carried out with Portugal Telecom Sistemas de Informacao ("PTSI"), the internal IT division of Portugal Telecom.
Mediation software is a connection between service providers' wireline, wireless, cable, satellite and next-generation networks to their customer- facing systems such as billing and customer relationship management (CRM). Products in the Amdocs mediation portfolio - which includes Amdocs Service Mediation Manager - translate customer usage into accurate, collectible revenue, regardless of service type (voice, including voice over IP or VoIP, data, content or video), payment plan (prepaid or postpaid, fixed or content- based billing) or processing mode (real-time or batch). As a result, providers can introduce new services rapidly, offer multiple payment models and reduce their total cost of ownership
"We found that Amdocs Service Mediation Manager can address most of our requirements with functionality that is easily extendable and configurable," said José Garcia, service director of product support systems at TV Cabo. "By providing the advanced flexibility required to support multi-play bundles with a single convergent platform, Amdocs Service Mediation Manager ensures that we have the business agility required to roll out new services and offers at minimum operational overhead costs."
TV Cabo had separate mediation systems to support its different lines of business. Teaming up with PTSI, Amdocs replaced these systems with Amdocs Service Mediation Manager. Having a single, consolidated mediation platform to support all of its current and future offerings, TV Cabo will be able to deliver a superior experience to its customers and transform to become a multi-play provider
"Service providers, including multiple systems operators, must secure customer loyalty by evolving to offer the services their customers demand - quickly and cost-effectively," said Michael Couture, vice president of marketing at Amdocs. "Amdocs Service Mediation Manager enables the implementation of any marketing plan quickly and efficiently, allowing service providers to capitalize on next generation services -- for maximum profitability."
Amdocs Service Mediation Manager is part of the Amdocs Convergent Mediation solution. In addition to Amdocs Service Mediation Manager, the solution also incorporates Amdocs Service Control Manager, which enables unique real-time service management capabilities (active mediation) to support next-generation network services with dynamic and flexible business logic. Both products are pre-integrated to ensure the most effective operational capabilities.
