Spike TV Nets Big Catch With 'The Hunt For: Monster Sharks'
One-Hour Special Premieres Monday, September 3 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT
NEW YORK, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- This Labor Day, Spike TV presents the world's premier shark hunting event, as the ocean's most lethal predator becomes the prey in "The Hunt For: Monster Sharks." Premiering Monday, September 3 at 10:00 PM, ET/PT, this one-hour special takes a look at the 2007 Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tournament. In its 21st year, over 200 boats and 1000 big game fisherman from across the country compete to catch the largest sharks in the waters off Martha's Vineyard. "The Hunt For: Monster Sharks" follows the fishermen from the dock to the search as they pursue these monsters of the deep.

Featured hunters include captain Damon Sacco from Pocasset, MA, whose boat, Castafari, caught a nearly 1200 lb. tiger shark at the 2005 Tournament after a 3-hour fight. However, Sacco's vessel arrived at the dock 6 minutes late so their would-be tournament-winning catch did not count. The captain looks for redemption in 2007. Standing in his way is the 2006 winner, Clan MacGregor from Ledyard, CT, whose crew, helmed by Captain Scott MacGregor, captured a thresher to take home the title. MacGregor and company look to become the first crew to win back-to-back titles in this year's hunt for thresher and mako sharks.
"The Hunt For: Monster Sharks" also follows Provider, a local ship from Nantucket, MA. Provider has not had much success in the ten years since first joining the competition, but this year Captain Robert DeCosta and crew are determined to make their mark on the tournament in front of the hometown crowd.
High drama and suspense are the norm as the fight ensues between man and shark, with sharks weighing as much as half a ton. With big money and reputations on the line, these anglers will fight to the finish to get their catch.
