SEPTA to Kick Off Football Season With 'Sports Express' Service to Eagles Home Preseason Game at Lincoln Financial Field

Dinosaurs/Panthers Invade 'Urban' Landscape of South Philadelphia this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SEPTA Broad Street Line "Sports Express" service is set for the Philadelphia Eagles first of two home preseason football games at Lincoln Financial Field.

On Friday, August 17, the Philadelphia Eagles battle the Carolina Panthers at 7 p.m. and SEPTA Broad Street Line Sports Express trains will be there leaving Fern Rock Transportation Center every 10 minutes between 6:05 p.m. and game time en route to Pattison Station and Lincoln Financial Field.

Thousands of fans have enjoyed the speed, comfort, and convenience Broad Street line service offers to events at the sports complex -- why shouldn't you?

Broad Street Line Sports Express trains leave from Fern Rock Transportation Center and stop only at Olney Transportation Center, Erie, Girard, Spring Garden, Race-Vine, City Hall and Walnut-Locust Stations en route to Pattison Station and the Sports Complex. The express trip from City Hall to the Sports Complex takes only about eight minutes. Local and express Broad Street Line trains are also in service throughout the day.

To make the subway trip more convenient, SEPTA will open the lower level platform at Pattison Station before and after the game allowing for easier travel into and out of the station. After the game fans will find trains standing by to provide local and express service back to Fern Rock.

In addition, the sports complex will attract thousands more to South Philadelphia.

On Friday (August 17), Walking with Dinosaurs will perform at the Wachovia Spectrum at 7 p.m. Shows will continue through the weekend with 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m. performances on Saturday (August 18), and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. shows on Sunday (August 19). While on Saturday (August 18) Keith Urban will perform in concert at the Wachovia Center at 8 p.m.

Riders making connections with Broad Street line service from the Market/Frankford El should allow extra time due to shuttle bus operation in West Philadelphia.

SEPTA remains the best way to the sports complex, avoiding the anticipated congestion on I-95, the Schuylkill Expressway, Broad Street and other roads leading to the area not to mention expensive parking fees.
