IFC and Comcast Bring Free Film Fest to Memphis

'Raising Arizona,' 'The Princess Bride' and 'Napoleon Dynamite' Will Be Featured on a State-Of-The-Art Outdoor Video System

Award-Winning Filmmaker Craig Brewer and Memphis & Shelby County Film Commissioner Linn Sitler serve as Honorary Co-Chairs of Event

Event showcases works of local filmmakers, collects DVDs for Baptist Memorial Hospital's pediatric 'Movie Library' and features drawing for HD Camera

MEMPHIS, Tenn., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- IFC and Comcast will host the IFC Free Film Fest, a state-of-the-art, multimedia independent film tour in Memphis from Tuesday, July 31 -- Thursday, August 2 at the Memphis Pink Palace Museum. Free to the public, the event begins at 6:00 PM each night. Three uncut indie films will be screened on a high-tech outdoor mini-entertainment complex beginning at dusk.

Memphis is the fourth stop on a ten-city tour, which kicked off in Philadelphia on July 10.

Featuring brief remarks from internationally renowned Memphis filmmaker Craig Brewer, ("Black Snake Moan", "Hustle & Flow") and Memphis and Shelby County Film Commissioner Linn Sitler, the event will also include:

-- Local Memphis filmmakers can showcase their short films at the IFC
Media Lab Lounge. a free on-site venue for local filmmakers who have
submitted films to IFC's online user-generated program at

www.ifc.com/medialab.

Deadline for submitting films (to above website)
is July 20th.
-- IFC and Comcast are partnering with Kid Flicks, a non-profit
organization founded in 2002 by two teenaged girls, the Barta sisters,
to collect DVDs to donate to hospitals. Local residents are encouraged
to bring new and/or used kids' DVDs to be donated to Baptist Memorial
Hospital's pediatric unit.
-- HD Camera Giveaway -- Event-goers visiting the Media Lab Lounge can
enter to win a new JVC HD camera.

IFC can be viewed locally as a part of Comcast's digital offering on cable channel 288.

IFC's "tv, uncut" mantra will ring true with uncut screenings of each of the three films including the Coen Brothers cult hit, "Raising Arizona" (July 31); the family-friendly fairy tale classic "The Princess Bride" )August 1; and the unconventionally humorous "Napoleon Dynamite" (August 2).
