Belo Names Mark D. Pimentel President and General Manager of WHAS-TV in Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Belo Corp. (NYSE:BLC) announced today that Mark D. Pimentel has been named president/General Manager of WHAS-TV, Belo's ABC affiliate in Louisville, beginning August 9, 2007. He will join WHAS from WTVQ in Lexington, Kentucky where he has served as vice president and general manager since 2003. Pimentel has extensive experience in the role of general manager, serving from 1999 to 2002 as vice president and general manager of WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, and from 1995 to 1999 as vice president and general manager of WAFF-TV in Huntsville, Alabama. He will report to Rick Keilty, senior vice president.
"Mark's experience as a general manager, solid news background and his knowledge of the state of Kentucky make him a great choice for this role," Keilty said. "Under his leadership, we expect WHAS11NEWS to further expand on its role as a leading news provider to the people of Louisville and southern Indiana."

Pimentel has more than 29 years of experience in television news. Prior to his 12 years as a general manager, he was a news director at various television stations from 1989 to 1995 including: WXIA-TV in Atlanta, Georgia; WBFF-TV in Baltimore, Maryland; and WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina. Early in his career, he was both an executive producer and a news producer at television stations in Atlanta, Boston, Raleigh/Durham and Dayton. Pimentel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Journalism from Marietta College and is a current member of the board of directors of the Fayette Education Foundation in Lexington.
