Azteca America's Live Soccer Match Rated #1 Sports Program For Men 18-34

-- Mexican Final Beat NBA Playoffs, NASCAR Nextel Cup, Indy 500 and MLB on Broadcast Television Networks --

LOS ANGELES, June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mexican League Soccer Final broadcast on Azteca America on May 27th was unmatched among ALL US BROADCAST TELEVISION NETWORKS for sports programming during the week of May 21-27 among male viewers ages 18-34, including ABC, FOX, Telefutura, CW, NBC and Univision.

Following actual live start and end times for the broadcast, Nielsen revised its count, up from 1.9 million thought to have originally viewed the game in the United States to 2.2 million.

"In fact, the Pachuca-America Championship game gave us our highest rating ever, illustrating the strides we've made to improve our distribution and build our brand," said Adrian Steckel, CEO of Azteca America. "Mexican soccer is a premium sports property which, as the numbers show, rivals general market sports in terms of viewer response."

The match-up attracted 1% more male 18-34 viewers than ABC's May 26 NBA Conference Finals playoff match between Utah and San Antonio; 10% more than FOX's NASCAR Nextel Cup on May 26; over 40% more than ABC's Indy 500 Race aired on May 26; and over 70% more than FOX's Saturday Baseball Game of the Week on May 26.

For both male and female audiences ages 18-34, the Mexican soccer game ranked number three in the nation among all broadcast networks for sports programming, with 907,000 viewers, closely trailing Fox's NASCAR Nextel and ABC's NBA playoffs.
