Washington D.C.'s 'GI Film Festival' Launches 'Sponsor a Soldier' Campaign

ARLINGTON, Va., May 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The First Annual GI Film Festival, which will be held on Memorial Day weekend, May 25-28, 2007, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC, announced today its new "sponsor a soldier" campaign. Those who have other plans for the Memorial Day holiday and will not be able to personally attend the festival can send a soldier from the Washington metro area in their place.

"We realize Memorial Day weekend is a busy holiday, and not everyone will be able to attend the festival," said GI Film Festival President Brandon Millett. "The 'sponsor a soldier' program provides an opportunity to support the festival, and to give something back to one of our local heroes at the same time."
The mission of the GI Film Festival is to honor American soldiers through the medium of film. Overall, the festival is scheduled to feature 22 movie screenings, 3 VIP cocktail receptions, 2 panel discussions, and more, including:
-- Film screenings presented by world famous actors, entertainers and
directors, including Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump), Pat Boone (For My
Country), James McEachin (Old Glory), Ron Maxwell (Verna: USO Girl),
John Dahl (The Great Raid), and comedian Jeff Ross (Patriot Act).
-- Special appearances by actor R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket), comedian
Blake Clark (Home Improvement), fitness guru Billy Blanks (Tae Bo),
former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Richard B. Myers.
-- A private VIP cocktail reception with actor Gary Sinise and a kick-off
cocktail after-party with actor R. Lee Ermey and comedians Jeff Ross
