PHILADELPHIA, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- CN8, The Comcast Network was recognized with three Emmy Awards from The National Television Academy Boston/New England Chapter for its unrivaled brand of original programming. The three New England Emmy Awards include a statue to the now seven-time Emmy Award-winning "It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle" in the Interview/Discussion Program category, recognizing CN8's host/executive producer and network political director, Lynn Doyle, and her team for CN8's hallmark live, interactive issues-oriented talk show. The Academy also recognized CN8 for its expanded lineup introduced last fall, with an Emmy awarded to John Carchedi in the Program Feature or Segment-Informational category for his work as host of "Out of Bounds," a fast-paced, multi-regional sports show. CN8's original reality-based home improvement show, "American Builder," also received its third Emmy, this one in the Arts and Entertainment category. CN8 has been recognized with a total of 343 Emmy nominations.

"Since its inception, CN8 has continued to explore uncharted territory, reshaping and revolutionizing regional television with a unique brand of intelligent, original programming that is meaningful to people's lives," said Michael Doyle, president, Comcast Cable Eastern Division and founder, CN8, The Comcast Network. "This recognition from New England viewers and the National Television Academy is a tribute to all our employees who work tirelessly to ensure that CN8 delivers on its promise every day to innovate and inspire."

CN8 was first founded in 1996, and launched in New England in 2003 with the building of a state-of-the-art studio strategically located in Brookline, Mass. This central location was selected to help attract talented employees and renowned on-air hosts and reporters, as well as high-profile, influential guests from across New England.

"We are grateful that our focus on live, interactive programming that can't be found elsewhere has been so well received by both our viewers across the region and by our esteemed peers in the television industry," said Jon Gorchow, vice president and general manager of CN8, The Comcast Network. "These awards are an indication that we are indeed delivering on our mission to fill a void for our regional audiences with original programming and specials that traditional networks simply don't cover."

From Boston Common to the Nation's Capitol

In the same week, CN8 celebrates the official opening of its 4,200-square- foot studio across the street from Capitol Hill, with a May 15 rooftop event expected to be attended by hundreds of local newsmakers, pundits and other influencers. In just four months since opening the studio, CN8's D.C. hub has been a hotbed of activity hosting local and nationally renowned elected officials, organizations and other regional experts eager to share their views on politics, sports, entertainment, finance, issues and more with CN8's East Coast audience.

With its expansion into D.C., CN8, The Comcast Network can now be viewed in more than nine million homes in 12 states and 20 television markets stretching from Maine to Washington, D.C. and Virginia. The network produces and airs more than 90 hours of original programming each week out of its six studios in the Baltimore, Boston, Delaware, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. areas, and produces more than 200 local, regional and national sporting events.

All of CN8's original programs and special events are available ON DEMAND to Comcast Digital Cable customers at no charge. CN8 produces thousands of hours of dedicated ON DEMAND programming annually, including its signature "Candidates On Demand" platform, a video on demand service that allows voters to access information about the candidates, platforms and policies impacting local, state and federal elections. CN8's Web site, www.CN8.tv, has also become an interactive destination for viewers, providing live streams of original programming and special events, and attracting more than 40,000 visitors each month.

For the third year in a row, CN8 will broadcast this year's New England Emmy Award show on Sunday, May 20 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Emmys were held on Saturday, May 12, at the Boston Marriott Copley Place and hosted by CN8's "Backstage with Barry Nolan" veteran entertainment duo, Barry Nolan and Sara Edwards. "The 30th Annual Boston/New England Emmy Awards" will highlight the evening's big winners, as well as the recipients of the prestigious Governor's Award.
