Fandango and Nissan Hit the Highway Showcasing Summer Movie Locations

From the Windswept Dunes of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End To the Vegas Hot Spots in Ocean's Thirteen

LOS ANGELES, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Looking for the perfect escape this summer? Heading to the movies or heading out of town? Before you get your motor running and head out on the highway, you'll want to consult Fandango's "Summer Movies Road Trip Guide", launching at www.fandango.com/summermovies and presented by Nissan.

The online guide features 11 movie-inspired itineraries with recommended destinations, accommodations, restaurants, theaters and stops along the way. Follow the cinematic paths of this summer's big screen stars, as we visit Johnny Depp's windswept sand dunes (as seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End), Matt Damon's Morocco (featured in The Bourne Ultimatum), George Clooney's Vegas (in Ocean's Thirteen), Steve Carell's Blue Ridge Mountains (in Evan Almighty), Transformers' White Sands, New Mexico, Spider-Man's Manhattan, Die Hard's downtown Los Angeles, Ratatouille's Paris, Hairspray's Baltimore, Harry Potter's Britain and many other secret sites. There's even a guide to The Simpsons Movie's Springfield.

There are good indications that movie tourism is becoming the latest American travel trend:

-- 4 out of 5 Fandango moviegoers say they'd like to visit a movie
location or set while on vacation;
-- American tourists are flocking overseas to experience first-hand the
locations they saw in movies like The Da Vinci Code and the Harry
Potter and Lord of the Rings series;
-- Movies can boost tourism as much as 54% for destinations featured in
popular movies, according to Annals of Tourism Research.

The Road Trip Guide is all part of the new Fandango Summer Spotlight, featuring details on upcoming films complete with photos and star info, news and updates, moviegoer polls, Top 10 lists of summer-related movies and performances, plus "My Favorite Locations" anecdotes from notable actors and directors. Fandango filmgoers can also enter to win a Pirates' adventure to the British Virgin Islands, courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures' Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, The British Virgin Islands Tourist Board, and Purple Pineapple Villas.

The Summer Spotlight also includes the second annual Fandango Summer Hot List, highlighting the 10 actors film fans most want to see on the big screen. The top five actors this year are Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Orlando Bloom, Tobey Maguire and Brad Pitt, while the top five actresses are Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, Jessica Alba, Drew Barrymore and Emma Watson.

Fandango has recently added new features to its site so that it continues to be the leading moviegoer destination. Among the additions are more extensive content in the form of commentator articles, blogs and interviews, expanded user ratings and reviews, and easily browsable collections of movie trailers, clips and photos. Not changed is Fandango's user-friendly interface for showtimes and tickets.
