Studio Movie Grill Calls on SonicWALL to Save Spiderman
PLANO, Texas, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- It's Friday at 2 PM. In two hours thousands of people will start arriving at Studio Movie Grill to watch the new Spiderman 3 movie and enjoy dinner during the show. A few hours earlier the local ISP makes some changes to the DSL line and as a result, will not be able to restore service for at least five business days. That means no online ticket sales and seriously slow process times for all those food orders that usually occur in high volume spurts. Spidey faces a difficult evening. Nobody can deliver new internet service in two hours on a Friday afternoon.
Could Spiderman be saved? InterStructure to the rescue.
Local network integrator InterStructure, Inc., led by Russell Swinney, teamed up with Bill Radtke of Network-Advisor to engineer a solution. They knew that cellular internet service was the only solution, and it had to be secure to safeguard customers' credit card details. SonicWALL's new TZ 190 3G firewall has a slot for a CDMA cellular card so no physical internet connections are required. It was a perfect fit.
Having determined the solution, Swinney and Radtke still needed to find the needed hardware and found there were no TZ 190 devices in stock anywhere in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Swinney and Radtke put in a call to their local SonicWALL Sales engineer and told him the story. Not only did he offer to lend a TZ 190 unit, he volunteered to bring it to Studio Movie Grill to save time -- every minute counted at this point and the crowds were clamoring for seats.
By borrowing this device from the local SonicWALL sales team, Swinney and Radtke were able to get Studio Movie Grill back in business in a few hours instead of the five days that the ISP would have taken. One quick stop by the Cingular store for one of the latest version 3.2 wireless cards and that was it. "Configuration took just a few moments and speeds were three times the speed of the DSL line," said Swinney. "Way cool. And yes, Spiderman was saved."
