NexTune Is Now iPod, iTunes and MediaPlayer Compatible
REDMOND, Wash., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- NexTune's newest version of its digital music playlist software is now compatible with Apple's(R) iPod, iTunes and Microsoft's(R) Windows MediaPlayer. Extending its reach into creating universal music software, NexTune has made it possible to completely share playlists across other music software and virtually every portable device. In its earlier release, NexTune introduced Digital Rights Management compatibility including the restricted music purchased from iTunes and from download music stores featuring Microsoft's PlaysForSure DRM. With its latest release, MoodMaker version 3.0.4, any music enthusiast can use almost any portable device with NexTune's MoodMaker music software.

Music consumers are increasingly frustrated with the incompatibility of digital music software and hardware, continuing to depress the adoption of digital music by the larger music buying population. Many consumers don't realize the limitations until after they've made a purchase of either a portable device or digital music from a download music store. NexTune made their MoodMaker playlist software compatible across most all portable devices as well as the most popular music software including MediaPlayer and iTunes.
Michael DuKane, NexTune president stated, "we revolutionized the way consumers can make playlists and with every step forward we're breaking down the barriers that limit the consumer's freedom of choice. With NexTune, consumers can easily change their mind about which portable device they would choose to use without loosing their playlists or without having to change their music software".
NexTune's patent pending playlist software, called MoodMaker, arranges playlists by mood, vocals, tempo, style and genre, incredibly fast and in a flow that would rival the most meticulous disc jockey. Now, with version 3.0.4, any iTunes or MediaPlayer user can easily import their playlists into NexTune's MoodMaker software or transfer MoodMaker playlists to either iTunes or MediaPlayer.
While NexTune's MoodMaker can easily transfer playlists to most portable devices, the portable device itself still retains the limitations inflicted by the device manufacturer. For example, Apple's iPod still won't play Windows Media files and windows devices still won't play Apple's AAC music files even with MoodMaker.
Michael DuKane explains it this way, "there is nothing anyone can legitimately do to access features the manufacturers of these portable devices prohibit. Until the music industry joins with the technology industry in an agreement that music is universal and the enjoyment of music must be universal as well, digital music will remain inhibited. The reason CDs are still the king of music distribution, and will remain so, is because it's a universal format. The latest news that EMI and other labels may distribute their music libraries without DRM is commendable but falls short of the core problem. The problem is that all technology companies including Apple and Microsoft are going out their way to create closed systems that are incompatible with one another. Imagine a music industry where a commercial CD will only play on certain CD players or in certain cars. The music industry would still be where they were in the 1940s. Digital rights management makes sense on many fronts and should be supported to preserve the rights of the musician. But, it has to be based on music industry standards and not governed by the technology industry. After all, technology companies will do everything possible to prevent standards from being adopted. To expect a computer company, even Apple, to lead us into the digital music future is nonsense. At NexTune, we're bridging the technology gap, brick by brick, to offer the most versatile personal music experience possible. We're music people leveraging technology and not the other way around."
To commemorate NexTune's newest release, NexTune is giving away $300 in free music from its CD Music Store, built inside its MoodMaker software, and a free 80GB Apple iPod each week until June 15, 2007. To participate in NexTune's "Free Music iPod" promotion all you have to do is download their MoodMaker software and register it.
