NexTune Announces New MoodMaker Version 3.5
REDMOND, Wash., May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The smart playlist just got a little bit smarter. NexTune's newest release of its flagship digital music software, MoodMaker, has a host of new features including background profiling which retrieves song characteristics used to organize a playlist of songs based on tempo and flow. No other digital music software is capable of actually playlisting songs automatically based on the characteristics of the specific song selections in a playlist.

NexTune is the only digital music software that offers its own song level, online, music recognition database exclusively for users of its software. Other digital music software such as iTunes or Media Player rely on third party CD recognition systems such as GraceNote which offer very little when it comes to actual song recognition. NexTune takes CD recognition to the next step by offering 11 specific fields of information about a particular song on an album. The NexTune software uses these characteristics when creating automatic playlists and arranges the songs into a pleasing listening order that rises and falls in tempo.
To create a playlist, all the user has to do is describe in general terms what mood of music they would like. They can also further narrow their choices with additional requests such as style, music era and instrumentation. While the current music software offerings do a pretty good job at managing and organizing digital music files, NexTune takes the digital music experience to the next step by actually using the power of the personal computer to playlist music similar to the way professional broadcasters and music programmers have been doing for decades.
Their latest version, released Memorial Day weekend in the USA, automatically retrieves users song characteristics in the background, allowing the user to do very little other than importing their song collection. Also unique to this release is their automatic background pricing system. NexTune has figured out that the used CD market in the USA is over a billion dollars a year and only their software can automatically price a user's CD for resale using their online, automatic pricing system. If you sell your CD using the NexTune software you'll get instant credit to buy new or used CDs from NexTune's built in CD music store.
NexTune cleverly integrated several partners including MUZE, an online music encyclopedia, Django's, an online music retailer and Uzed.com, an online purchaser of used CDs into its desktop software. Their system allows any music retailer or music services company to integrate with its platform. Michael DuKane, president explained, "It's clear, the future of music retailing is moving online. For the music retailer to compete in a digital music world dominated by big computer companies, they will need a versatile platform that is capable of delivering download music, CDs, streaming playlists and custom music experiences. We built NexTune to provide an alternative to simply managing music files to actually being able to integrate any number of music services from a host of companies offering their own unique brand of services."
NexTune's software is an invitation to companies wanting to jump into the digital music frontier by allowing them to concentrate on the services they want to offer while not being burdened by the technology to support it. To further the integration of NexTune into a partner company's music services, NexTune's software is fully compatible with the various digital rights management systems of Microsoft and Apple, in addition to a variety of portable media devices including the iPod.
