National Television Academy Calls for Entries for the 59th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards
Deadline for Submission Is August 31
LAS VEGAS, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today issued a call for entries for its 59th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy(R) Awards for work distributed between May 1, 2006 and April 30, 2007. The Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards honor excellence in advances in the use, creativity and adaptation of technology that enhances or improves the consumer experience with media. All entries must be postmarked on or before August 31. The event will return to Las Vegas for the International Consumer Electronics Show, where winners will be presented with Emmy statuettes during a dinner gala on January 7, 2008.
"These awards recognize the converging of classic broadcast and cable TV across emerging media multiplatforms," said Peter Price, President/CEO of the National Television Academy. "We encourage professionals in the print media, advertising agencies and production companies, as well as our colleagues in Silicon Valley and all who are driving the future of digital media, to participate and enter their submissions," he added.
This year the Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards will honor achievements in 11 areas:
1) Synchronous enhancement of original television content for interactive
use (two-screen environment)
2) Non-synchronous enhancement of original television content (single
screen environment)
3) Creation of non-traditional programs or platforms
4) Best use of personal media display and presentation technology
5) Creation and implementation of video games and platforms
6) Best use of "On Demand" technology over broadband networks for active
"lean-forward" viewing (such as on a PC)
7) Best use of "On Demand" technology over broadband networks for passive
"lean-backward" viewing (such as on a TV)
8) Best use of commercial advertising on stand-alone broadband devices
9) Best use of creation and distribution of interactive commercial
advertising delivered through portable broadband devices
10) Best use of creation and distribution of interactive commercial
advertising delivered through multi-channel broadband devices (such
as set top boxes)
11) Best use of broadband for the development and delivery of commercial
advertising in video games
