MobiTV Announces Management Team Evolution

New Structure Designed to Accelerate Growth Trajectory

EMERYVILLE, Calif., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- MobiTV, Inc., the global leader in mobile and broadband television and music services, today announced an expanded management team structure designed to capitalize upon the burgeoning opportunities in the mobile entertainment industry that the Company has pioneered.

Dr. Phillip Alvelda, founder and chief executive officer, formally announced the appointment of co-founder Paul Scanlan, formerly chief operating officer, to the role of president, with responsibility for sales, business development, product management, marketing and content. Additionally, Dr. Alvelda announced the appointment of Bruce Gilpin, formerly chief strategy officer and interim chief financial officer, to the role of chief operating officer, with responsibility for the office of the chief technology officer, engineering, operations, IT and customer support. And finally, he announced the appointment of Bill Losch to the role of chief financial officer, to join soon with responsibility for finance and administration. Losch will join MobiTV from DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc., where he serves as chief accounting officer.

"I'm enormously proud of the great success we've achieved and the role MobiTV has played in defining the mobile entertainment market, yet mindful of the tremendous potential still ahead," said Dr. Alvelda. "I have worked with some of the best partners during the adventure of building MobiTV and the mobile television category. I'm happy to announce the addition of Bill Losch and look forward to watching him, and the MobiTV staff, reach new and astonishing heights."

In addition to these appointments, Dr. Alvelda announced he was handing off day-to-day CEO duties to a successor, while continuing to serve his guiding role as chairman of MobiTV's Board of Directors. "We've initiated a search for the best-qualified individual to take MobiTV to even greater heights," he commented. "Given our prospects as a business, I'm confident we'll have our pick of the best candidates."

"Phillip deserves a great deal of credit for his extraordinary vision and leadership, which guided this company from concept to media and telecom industry leader," said Admiral Bob Inman, a member of MobiTV's Board of Directors and one of the company's earliest investors. "He's earned the right to devote more of his time to pursuing his passion for advancing U.S. science and technology education, while continuing to serve as a principal visionary for MobiTV in his role as chairman."

"Last year I co-founded the Westminster Institute for Science Education [W.I.S.E.], and now it is really starting to take off," said Dr. Alvelda. "The lessons I have learned as a practicing scientist and serial technology entrepreneur are directly applicable to transforming K-12 science and technology education across the nation. NASA, MIT, Cornell, and MobiTV have truly taught me that science classes do not have to be dominated by boring memorization of science history or cook-book experiments. Now I can really start to share the wonder and joy of exploring and discovering new ideas, and how those ideas literally change the world we live in."

"Phillip's determination and agility helped us achieve success in the midst of one of the worst downturns in history," said Paul Scanlan, co-founder and president for MobiTV. "It was his vision and creativity that ultimately opened the mobile markets to the crown jewels of the broadcast industry, winning MobiTV an Emmy(R) Award for technical achievement, and thereby started a whole new industry called Mobile Television."
