Ecast Appoints Pandora CEO to Board of Directors
SAN FRANCISCO, May 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Ecast, the largest broadband touchscreen media network in the United States, has appointed Joe Kennedy, chief executive officer of Pandora, to serve on its board of directors.
Mr. Kennedy brings business acumen and an extensive background with music- discovery software derived from his success developing Pandora into one of the most compelling music services on the Internet. Pandora's Music Genome Project, considered the most comprehensive analysis of music ever undertaken, represents a multi-year effort to listen, analyze, and categorize hundreds of thousands of songs based on hundreds of musical attributes or genes that form a song's music genome. As a result, Pandora enables consumers to easily and intuitively find new songs similar to their unique musical tastes.
"Joe's insights in running successful, high-growth companies should prove to be a strong asset as we continue to expand our network footprint and build additional media and content offerings," said John Taylor, chief executive officer, Ecast. "It's critical to understand the sophisticated musical tastes of our consumers and Joe's experience can help us with that."
Previously, Mr. Kennedy served as president and chief operating officer of E-LOAN. From 1995 to 1999, he served as vice president of sales, service and marketing for Saturn Corporation. In his 11 years at Saturn, he established the Saturn brand and helped grow the company's revenues to more than $4 billion and established it as the top brand for customer satisfaction in the auto industry.
Mr. Kennedy holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.
