LOS ANGELES, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Musician Carlos Santana and author Deborah Santana established the Milagro Foundation in 1998. Since its inception, over $2 million has been granted to programs and agencies worldwide supporting underserved and at-risk youth in the areas of health, education and the arts. Tonight, Thursday, May 31, Milagro -- which means "miracle" -- will host a benefit for one of its extraordinary grantees, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP), based in East Los Angeles. The event kicks off at 9PM at Avalon Hollywood, located at 1735 N. Vine St., just north of Hollywood & Vine. Admission is free for all attendees bringing a new stuffed animal that will be donated to the children served by VIP and Milagro. To attend, RSVP to Suzanne Special Events at SuzanneEvents@aol.com.

The evening will feature a special performance by Rock Star Supernova sensation Dilana. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the tattooed and super-talented reality TV fan favorite's career took off after she moved to the Netherlands where she became one of the country's top acts. Dilana is now based in Los Angeles, and pursuing her career as a singer-songwriter.

Another highlight of the benefit will be the auctioning off of a custom- made guitar signed by music icon Carlos Santana. Bidding will start at $6,000 for the exquisite limited edition Santana SE model instrument by Paul Reed Smith Guitars, one of only two left for auction from an edition of 100 printed with the dynamic artwork from Santana's 2002 album Shaman.

In addition, Avalon will stage a fashion show of Carlos By Carlos Santana fashion forward footwear. Reflecting the passion and energy that define the music of Santana, Carlos brand shoes are hip, fun and available in a rainbow of contemporary styles and colors. The Carlos By Carlos Santana line donates a portion of the proceeds from sales year-round to the Milagro Foundation. Footwear models at the VIP benefit will wear dresses courtesy of L.A.-based design house Frenzii.

Established in '84 at LAC/USC Medical Center by world-renowned pediatrician and high profile expert on matters of rape and violent crime Dr. Astrid Heppenstall Heger, VIP serves victims of child abuse/neglect, domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse and dependent adult abuse. 24/7 medical, forensic, mental health and advocacy services are provided to over 5,000 people annually, and VIP is renowned as LAC's first multidisciplinary Family Advocacy Center for evaluating and treating all forms of family violence and sexual assault. 2007 marked the opening of The Santana House, a new facility allowing VIP to expand its critical services to children in foster care and integrate Department of Children and Family Services Emergency Response Workers into multidisciplinary assessments of children at risk for foster placement.
