Angel Harvey to be Honored

CHICAGO, May 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Museum of Broadcast Communications (MBC) in Chicago has announced it will name the conference and special events venue in its new 70,000 square foot museum after Angel Harvey, wife of ABC radio news commentator Paul Harvey.

"Angel Harvey has been the Museum's single greatest financial backer for over 20 years and she has always been there during our times of trouble. We want Angel to know how much we appreciate her guidance and generosity in her time of personal trouble," said Bruce DuMont, founder and president of the Chicago-based broadcast museum.

Paul Harvey this week announced to his audience that Angel has leukemia. The Harveys have been married for over 60 years and Angel has been both his partner and producer, directing Harvey's incredible career. She also created The Rest of the Story for ABC in 1976.

Angel Harvey, an inductee into the National Radio Hall of Fame, also provided the initial funding for the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1992. "Angel wanted radio people to have a first class annual gala to recognize the best of the industry, a gala of glamour, class and dignity," DuMont said. "Angel Harvey made the Radio Hall of Fame a reality.

"I hope the radio industry and radio lovers everywhere will join with the MBC now in honoring Angel Harvey, and help put in place a venue in mid-America where future generations can gather to discuss, debate, examine and at times celebrate the impact of electronic communications on society," DuMont said.

Angel and Paul Harvey have given in excess of $6 million to the MBC since its founding in 1983 by Chicago broadcaster DuMont. On June 13th of this year, the Museum will mark the 20th anniversary of its public opening.
