90.9 KCBI and Hundreds of Metroplex Churches Prepare for a 'Million Acts of Kindness'
One act of kindness can impact a life; one million acts of kindness could transform a city.
DALLAS, May 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Recently, an older woman standing at a Chic-fil-A counter was told that the cost of her meal had already been covered! Looking around the restaurant, she saw no one familiar. She was told that the customer in front of her had paid for her. In a world where nothing is free and agendas abound, why would someone buy lunch for a total stranger? "What's the catch?" she asked. No catch, just kindness.
May 7th will launch an unprecedented challenge in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Hundreds of local churches will partner with 90.9 KCBI for "Million Acts of Kindness." Participants will show an act of kindness accompanied by a "KindKard" that links recipients to a local church.
Suggested acts of kindness include: writing notes of encouragement, buying meals or coffee, paying tolls, volunteering time to help others, etc. The D/FW Metroplex is the inaugural location of the "Million Acts of Kindness", but Houston has caught the buzz and will be launching their city-wide campaign this coming fall. Other cities plan to follow shortly after.
"This isn't a kindness campaign, it's a Christian campaign," said visionary and director of the "MAK" campaign Steve Chesnut. "It's simply Christians being aware of the people and needs around them in order to compassionately reflect Christ's love through kindness. My prayer is that when people in the D/FW Metroplex think 'Christian', they think 'kindness'."
"KCBI is thrilled to be the radio station to partner with 'MAK' for this extraordinary city-wide vision," said Vice President of KCBI Mike Tirone. "We've already begun to see the impact during the planning stages, and we have great expectations for the May 7th launch!"
"The Million Acts of Kindness campaign is an ingenious yet simple approach to using good works as an opportunity to share the Gospel," said Dr. Tony Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. "It is a way the whole church can put feet to the Gospel message."
"What an exciting vision to partner churches, mobilize Christians, and serve our city in a God-sized way," said author and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar.
