LOS ANGELES, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wed. April 18, the all-star L.A. Blues Alliance will play their world premiere concert at Los Angeles' House of Blues Sunset Strip (HOB). Academy Award-winning actor Joe Pesci, a friend and fan of the nine-person outfit, will emcee "An Evening with the L.A. Blues Alliance," which also celebrates the forthcoming release of the group's debut album, What A Life. The Alliance is scheduled to take the stage at 8:00PM; for tickets and details, call HOB at 323.848.5100 or any Ticketmaster outlet or go to Ticketmaster.com.

In the storied tradition of stellar blues musicians jamming together for the sheer fun of it, L.A. Blues Alliance is a world-class summit of venerable players -- who all share vocal duties -- doing just that. The line-up is: ex-Canned Heat frontman Stanley Behrens (harmonica, tenor sax), Mike Finnigan (Hammond B3 organ, piano), Bob Glaub (bass, percussion), 3X GRAMMY winner Keb' Mo' (guitars, mandolin), Amy Keys (vocals), Louisiana-based slide guitar master Sonny Landreth (guitars), David Morgan (piano, electric piano), GRAMMY winner John "JR" Robinson (drums, percussion) and Emmy winner W.G. Snuffy Walden (guitars).

The group first assembled in 2006 at the instigation of Emmy/5X GRAMMY- winning producer/musician/composer Mike Post, one of the most lauded composers in TV history (and one of the only people ever to have a Who song named for him, the "Mike Post Theme"). Post's idea was to cut a blues album live in the studio with a fusion of top talent, each of whom would bring two song ideas to the sessions, originals and blues classics alike. Some of the players had worked together before, others knew each other only by reputation, but all signed on for Post's dream project.

The fruit of their labors, the debut album What A Life -- also the title of the disc's Mike Finnigan-penned powerhouse opener -- will be released May 15 on BabyRee Recordings with distribution through Fontana/Universal. The players took turns on lead vocals, and stand-out tracks also include Sonny Landreth on "Illinois Blues," Keb' Mo' on "T.V. Mama," "Money Honey" and "Shop Around" (the latter two duets with Amy Keys) and Stanley Behrens on "Who's Talking." Post, whose many TV credits include multiple Law & Orders, L.A. Law, NYPD Blue and Hill Street Blues, has said, "I live and breathe one-hour episodic television, and I love it, but I saw this as a chance to go back to live performance, to where I started."

Count on L.A. Blues Alliance to rip through all of the album's 15 tracks -- and then some -- at their roof-raising concert on April 18. Given each of the Alliance members' packed schedules on a wealth of music projects, it's an unknown when their next gig together will be, so don't miss the chance to celebrate What A Life with them at HOB.
