Verizon and Verizon Wireless Announce Lineup of Events and Activities at the Sixth Annual Tribeca Film Festival
Unique and Innovative Events Planned for New York City to Enhance the Festival-Going Experience
NEW YORK, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon announced plans today to make the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival the most innovative and interactive one yet. While festival attendees will have the chance to enjoy the films, events and culture of the Tribeca Film Festival, Verizon customers will be able to view Tribeca Film Festival entertainment whether they're in their living room, on their computer or on the go.
Beginning on Wednesday, April 25 through Sunday, May 6, Tribeca Film Festival moviegoers will have the opportunity to become part of the festival by instantly reviewing any film or festival-related experience using their Verizon Wireless mobile phone. American Express is installing seven 15-foot interactive Directors' Chairs featuring helpful Festival information throughout New York City and Verizon Wireless is providing text-to-screen technology to plasma screens on the Chairs giving Festival-goers the unique opportunity to become real time film critics by texting their movie reviews directly to these screens.
On Wednesday, May 2, Verizon Wireless will host a private screening of the feature film, "Heckler," produced by Jamie Kennedy at The Tribeca Cinemas. This event will also mark the premiere of the Mobile Short Film Project, three original short films made especially for Verizon by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Oren Jacoby ("Sister Rose's Passion"), critically acclaimed actress and playwright Anna Deveare Smith (TV's "The West Wing") and first time filmmaker Mark Campbell of the New Orleans Saints. Festival attendees will be able to win a pair of wireless tickets to this exclusive event through a Verizon Wireless customer loyalty program and a local radio promotion. Barcode tickets will be delivered directly to winners' wireless phones using text MMS/SMS messages and scanned for accuracy upon entering the venue.
On Saturday, May 5, from 10 am - 6 pm, Verizon will be a part of the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair and host an event inviting families with kids of all ages to visit the "Mini-Movie Studio" tent. Kids who visit the tent will have the chance to act out their own movie scene using a large video projection screen and movie props. As an added bonus, Verizon Wireless will send a text message containing the video file to a family member's mobile phone so kids can show off their film debut directly on a wireless handset. Attendees will also be able to sign up for Verizon FiOS, from the nation's most advanced digital all-fiber optic network straight to customers' homes. All Verizon FiOS TV and Broadband customers will soon have access to some of the best content that the Tribeca Film Festival has to offer.

The Festival's mission is to assist filmmakers to reach the broadest possible audience, enable the international film community and the general public to experience the power of film, and to promote New York City as a major filmmaking center.
