Statement by Mr. Kirk Douglas Regarding the Passing of Mr. Jack Valenti
LOS ANGELES, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- I still can't believe Jack (Valenti) is gone. He came to New York last month to visit me for a talk I gave at the 92nd Street Y. He was so full of vitality. He was excited about his book that was soon to be released. Two days later, I got a call about his stroke. My wife and I flew to Johns Hopkins Hospital immediately. He was in a coma. I held his hand and talked to him. Maybe he heard me. My only consolation is that he did not suffer.
He was a loyal and caring friend to many people. If you had a problem, it became his problem. He was a giant in our industry and his accomplishments were legendary. He was my best friend for over 45 years. I will miss him.
