New Study Shows Beer Industry Contributes Billions Annually to U-S Economy

America's beer industry, made up of brewers, beer importers, beer distributors, brewer suppliers, and retailers, directly and indirectly contributes nearly one hundred and ninety billion dollars annually to the U-S economy according to a new economic impact study. The industry's economic impact includes more than one-point-seven million jobs -- paying almost fifty-five billion in wages -- as well as more than thirty-six billion in federal, state, and local taxes. The study of 2006 data was commissioned by the Beer Institute and the National Beer Wholesalers Association.

Bankrate Poll: Early Retirement is not Expected

Bankrate has released a new Bankrate.com poll which found that nearly one out of five individuals plan to work until death. Another key finding shows that twenty-eight percent of those surveyed save less than five percent with sixteen percent saving nothing at all for retirement. That's among the most startling findings of the survey of Americans' attitudes toward retirement. The poll of nearly seven-hundred non-retired adults nationwide also found that one- quarter of all adults save less than five percent of their gross pay a year. That includes sixteen percent of Americans who acknowledged they are not putting any of their paycheck aside for retirement.

U-S Adults Less Likely Than Europeans to Think Humans Are Contributing to the Increase in Global Temperatures

As the nation celebrated Earth Day this past weekend, there is a definite difference in how those in the U-S feel about global warming when compared to their European counterparts. While two-thirds of U.S. adults believe humans are contributing to an increase in global temperatures, this is less than the British, Italian, and French and Spanish. The country where they are most likely to believe humans are contributing to this increase in temperatures is Germany at ninety-two percent.
