Oscar Award-winning filmmaker and Vietnam War veteran Oliver Stone joins MoveOn.org and VoteVets.org today to launch VideoVets: Bring Our Troops Home. The project features over 20 video interviews of soldiers and family members urging for a responsible redeployment of troops in Iraq. MoveOn members will select one interview to be directed by Stone into a 30-second TV spot that will air in the coming weeks.

The project is sponsored by MoveOn.org and VoteVets.org, and was triggered by an outpouring of stories passed onto the organizations from MoveOn members, veterans and family members over the course of the past few years. The organizations wanted to provide an opportunity for those stories to be told.

The videos were uploaded today on MoveOn.org and the popular social- networking site, YouTube. MoveOn members will have one week to rate the interviews, starting today. More than 700 MoveOn members volunteered their time and equipment to film the interviews. To view the videos go to http://pol.moveon.org/videovets.

"We have leaders in Washington who say they're 'supporting our troops' -- but the people who suffer most from their policies are the troops themselves," said director Oliver Stone. "I decided to participate in this project because, as a veteran, I know that America needs to listen to our servicemen and - women. They've been there and they know what's really going on. They need to be part of this debate," concluded Stone.

"Stories from veterans and family members have poured in over the past few years and we wanted to provide a platform where they could speak directly to the American people and policy makers," said Ms. Nita Chaudhary of MoveOn. "The administration tries to call anyone who criticizes their policy in Iraq 'anti-troop,' but these stories show that 'supporting the troops' does NOT mean supporting an endless war."

"I feel that my patriotism has been used and exploited," says John Bruhns, a former U.S. Army Infantry Sergeant and VoteVets.org member. "I am very proud of my military service, but I'm very disappointed in the civilian leadership and administration for sending us needlessly into combat." Watch Bruhns' video here:

"If there was a manual written on how not to fight a war, it would be this administration's playbook," said Iraq war veteran Peter Granato, another VoteVets.org member. See Granato's video here:

VoteVets.org is a pro-military organization committed to the destruction of terror networks around the world, with force when necessary. It represents the Voice of America's 21 Century Patriots - those who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. It primarily focuses on nonpartisan education and advocacy on behalf of troops, veterans and their families.
