Ratings to Be Used for Media Research, Planning and Creative Purposes
ALVISO, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ:TIVO), the creator and a leader in advertising solutions and television services for digital video recorders (DVRs), today announced that the Interpublic Group of Companies (NYSE:IPG), one of the world's leading organizations of advertising agencies and marketing services companies, has purchased a corporate subscription to the TiVo Stop||Watch ratings service. The subscription, which will be funded through the Interpublic Emerging Media Lab and participating media agencies, allows for the company's media specialist agencies, including MAGNA Global, Initiative and Universal McCann, to have full access to the TiVo Stop||Watch ratings service and research.
The TiVo Stop||Watch ratings service, a comprehensive second-by-second program and commercial ratings research product, gives Interpublic's agencies an authoritative industry database on audience commercial-viewing activity. With broad access to extensive and detailed research, Interpublic's agencies will be able to more effectively identify and analyze how fast-forwarding behavior affects commercial ratings and viewer engagement.

The TiVo Audience Research & Measurement unit data are derived from a daily, random, anonymous, stratified sample of 20,000 TiVo units -- from which the second-by-second "clickstream" of behavior and viewership is collected and assessed. The TiVo Stop||Watch ratings service is offered in a series of monthly primetime and daytime viewership reports for nationally run programs and advertisements, dating back to September 2006. TiVo Stop||Watch ratings service was introduced in February 2007. The TiVo Stop||Watch reports break down key data for: Total Viewing, Live Viewing, Timeshifted Viewing (less than 1 hour, 1-6 hours, 24-28 hours, and 2-7 day delay), Program Ratings, Commercial Ratings and a Commercial Viewership Index.
