Nelly Furtado Returns to U.S. Album Top Ten While Earning Platinum/Gold in 25 Other Countries

Current Single 'Say It Right' Drives 'Loose' Album to #7 in Billboard's Illustrious Top 200 Albums

LOS ANGELES, March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- International superstar Nelly Furtado knows how to say it right, all right.

Powered by the success of her current single, "Say It Right," her platinum album "Loose" has returned to the Billboard Top 200 Album chart with a strong #7 position. The album debuted at #1 when it was released June 20, 2006.

Furtado, currently on a headlining tour of Europe, to be followed by a concert swing across her native Canada, has also been dominating the top positions on International single and album charts. Her dream of being a "global" artist has been confirmed with "Loose."

Furtado has brought home platinum and gold awards in 25 countries. To date, the album has earned quadruple platinum in Canada, double platinum in Germany, Ireland, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, plus platinum in Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. It has also scored gold in Belgium, Denmark, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, India, Mexico and South Africa.

Nelly, nominated for five Juno Awards this year, is also hosting the CTV-televised event, being held April 1 in Saskatoon, Canada. (She won four Junos with her debut album, "Whoa, Nelly!" and one with her sophomore release, "Folklore.")

Furtado recently took the trophy for Best International Female Artist at the Brit Awards in the U.K. Feb. 16

She was nominated this year for a Grammy for the lead track from her album, "Promiscuous" and presented the first televised award at the 49th annual ceremonies last month. Furtado was also nominated for four Grammys for her debut album, taking home the trophy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "I'm Like a Bird."

In addition to her commitment to music, Nelly has been making forays into the acting realm -- from playing herself on ABC's "One Life to Live," to her primetime acting debut portraying a shoplifter on CBS's "CSI:NY" (which earned a 9.6 rating).

"Loose" has spawned three hit tracks to date in the States: "Promiscuous," "Maneater" and now "Say It Right." Her next track waiting in the wings to follow "Say It Right" in the States will be "All Good Things (Come to an End)" -- already a hit in Europe. Well known for her diverse collaborations, Nelly co-wrote the song with Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Nelly's live concerts, much praised in Europe, are slated hit the States this summer.
