How to Throw an Oscar(R) Party Fandango-Style
Leading Movie Site Offers Awards Party Themes, Ticket Giveaways and Moviegoer Polls; Majority of Fandango Audience Believes The Departed Will Win Best Picture
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- With the Oscars(R) just around the corner (Sunday, February 25), it's time for hosts to start planning their viewing parties. While the sobering nominees Babel, Letters from Iwo Jima and Blood Diamond offer limited fodder for party inspiration, several other contenders are ripe with themes for celebration.

In a column on Fandango, the nation's largest online, phone and mobile movie ticketing destination, Oscar(R) expert Kim Morgan recommends the following themes for the perfect Awards party:
* The Departed Party -- invite friends to don dark glasses, trench coats
or bathrobes, a la Jack Nicholson, pour scotch whiskey and serve
seafood as a salute to the film's Boston setting.
* The Dreamgirls Party -- encourage guests to dress up in blue taffeta,
false eyelashes and bouffants and dance to classic Motown.
* The Little Miss Sunshine Party -- serve take-out fried chicken and the
food that tempted ten-year-old Oscar(R) nominee Abigail Breslin:
waffles with ice cream ("a la mode-y").
* The Queen Party -- serve crumpets, finger sandwiches and plenty of hot
tea (not to be interrupted by anyone, even if it's Tony Blair calling).
The Oscar(R) party tip-sheet is just part of the extensive news and information that can be found in Fandango's Red Carpet Coverage of the 79th Annual Academy Awards(R) at www.fandango.com/oscars.
Film fans can also enter a giveaway to win free movie tickets or vote in the "Pick the Winners" poll, which has already attracted thousands of moviegoers. The Fandango moviegoer poll results (as of February 14, 2007 6:00 pm PST) for who will take home this year's Oscars(R):
* For Best Picture: The Departed (35%)
* For Best Director: Martin Scorsese, The Departed (51%)
* For Best Actor: Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland (46%)
* For Best Actress: Helen Mirren, The Queen (53%)
