DLP(R) Front Projection Technology Targets Consumer Lifestyle Markets with New Products Featuring Innovation in Design and Illumination
New Products and Prototypes Reflect an Increased Focus on Video Gaming, Multi-media Applications and Milestones in Affordable Pricing
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:TXN) today at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) (Central Hall, Booth #8204) announced milestones in DLP(R) front projection products including innovations in design, illumination and affordability. DLP manufacturing customers have reached new levels of picture quality in front projection products while presenting a wider range of products spanning a variety of lifestyle markets and price points.
New at 2007 CES are DLP front projection products geared toward video gaming and multi-media applications, including a TI prototype gaming projector designed in conjunction with video gamers for video gamers. Also making their debut at the show: InFocus IN1 projector, which comes with the choice of a DVD docking station to become an instant home theater or a docking station to become a gaming unit; the Philips UJoy, a personal projector geared toward gamers on the go; and ViewSonic's ViewDoc projector -- the first of its kind to feature a docking port for an iPod and sound input capabilities. Also on display at CES 2007 is a DLP projector featuring high brightness, solid state, LED illumination from LG (HS101), the next in a series of pocket projectors with significantly enhanced performance.
DLP-based front projection products have reached a new milestone of affordability, with DLP manufacturing customers offering more options than ever before for home entertainment front projectors at prices ranging from $499 - $999. In Q3, 2006, 58% of projectors under $1,000 featured DLP technology, which accounts for nearly 150 models. Manufactures delivering HD DLP projectors at breakthrough price points in 2007 include Optoma (HD70), Mitsubishi (HD1000) and Acer (PH530) at the sub $1,000 mark and BenQ (MP510) and Acer (XD1150) at the sub $500 mark for SVGA models.

BrilliantColor technology enables up to 6-color processing for enhanced color saturation and a greater than 50% brightness increase in mid-tone images. Multiple products are now available featuring BrilliantColor from leading manufacturers.
