Award Show Fantasy League: Online Fantasy Games Go Hollywood at (http://www.AwardShowFantasyLeague.com)

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- It's awards season in Hollywood, and there's big buzz about the parties, the clothes, the speeches and the new online fantasy game from AwardShowFantasyLeague.com (http://www.awardfl.com/) -- at least that's what the game developers are hoping. TabFL.com, the creators of the successful Tabloid Fantasy League, launched the new site on January 23, 2007. It's a fantasy game site where members predict winners from the nominees in the major awards shows. The first game up is called "And The Winner Is ... Academy Edition." It's based on the current Academy Award season that culminates with the broadcast of the televised event on February 25, 2007.

Award Show Fantasy League games are loosely based on the fantasy sports model. Players select a "team roster" from actors, movies and screenplays nominated in nine major categories like "Best Actor", "Best Picture", etc. They also make predictions for a few fantasy-only categories like "Longest Speech", "Shortest Speech" and "Most Awards." This makes every award and speech relevant to at-home players.

AwardFL.com creators hope the site becomes the centerpiece of every office pool and Oscar(R) party in the world. Members can play in a public league to see how they rank against all players, or they can set up private leagues to play among smaller groups of friends or co-workers. Top-ranked players will be awarded prizes like iPods and DVD movie collections.

"The sky's the limit! The market segment for celebrity-based publishing and programming just keeps growing, and we want to provide an online community for these enthusiasts and add a little fun for those who enjoy the thrill of fantasy sports competition," says game co-creator Breht Burri.

Burri, along with game co-creators/partners Firooz Basri, Amanda Dalsing, and Amy Reif also launched Tabloid Fantasy League (http://www.tabfl.com/) last year, and they've been delighted with the positive response. TabFL.com members draft a "team roster" of celebrities. They are scored and ranked weekly depending upon the number of times their celebrity team members' pictures appear in the "Big Four" tabloid magazines: "People", "Us Weekly", "Star", and "In Touch."

"People are having so much fun playing Tabloid Fantasy League, we just wanted to crank it up a notch and give them a chance to catch the excitement of big celebrity events like the awards shows," says Dalsing.
