Dean Teaster's New Movie 'Ghost Town' Starring Mountain Men from Deliverance

Dean Teaster's New Movie 'Ghost Town' Starring Mountain Men from Deliverance

LANSING, Mich., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Dean Teaster's movie "Ghost Town" has just finished principal photography. The film will star Herbert "Cowboy" Coward and Bill McKinney. This film brings Deliverance mountain men back to screen for the first time since Deliverance in 1972. Thirty three years after their performance, Maxim Magazine voted them the number one movie villains of all time and AFI has voted Deliverance to be number 15 in all time favorite Thrillers. Ghost Town "The Movie" was written by Dean Teaster and DJ Perry as an Appalachian tale of folklore character Harmon Teaster from the late 1800's, Dean's great, great, grandfather. The screenplay was written by DJ Perry. It weaves a tale of part of his life with "Ghost Town in the Sky" western theme amusement park, where Dean's father and Herbert "Cowboy" Coward acted with the group called "The Internationally Famous Ghost Town Gunfighters." This group of eleven men were RB Coburn's gunfighter crew around 1961 through 1966. During this time they acted alongside Hollywood greats such as Clu Gulager, Paul Fix, Frank McGrath, Burt Reynolds, Craig Hill, Donald May, Peter Brown, Veronica Cartwright, Dan Blocker, Tony Dow, John Broomfield, Jon Provost, Ken Weatherwax, Clint Walker, Darby Hinton, Grant Sullivan, Larry Matthews, etc. Since Dean's father created the real character of "Digger the Undertaker" in the theme parks gunfights, Dean will also play the character "Digger" in the movie as a tribute to his late father Robert Doyle Teaster. Herbert "Cowboy" Coward portrayed "Old Zeke" and "Grandpappy" in the gunfights as well and was discovered by Burt Reynolds on his visit to Ghost Town in 1963 when he played Quint Asper for the TV series "Gunsmoke". Burt Reynolds later requested him for the part of the "Toothless Man" in Deliverance.

DJ Perry, who wrote this screenplay was able to weave parts of the gunfighter history in with the Harmon Teaster Appalachian folklore legend. This movie will also be released at the same time of "Ghost Town in the Sky" western theme park re-opening scheduled May 2007, where the "Ghost Town Partners" (new owners) headed up by Hank Woodburn will return the park back to the "Golden Years" vision of original builder, Mr. RB Coburn, the mastermind behind "Ghost Town in the Sky," "Frontierland," and "Six Gun Territory" in Ocala Florida.

Alaska Presley, and her late husband Hugh Presley were instrumental in the opening and operation of Ghost Town in the Sky with RB Coburn, and Russ Pearson, and Uncle Dan Carpenter. Today, she is one of the executive producers of the movie Ghost Town. Robert Bradley, the original character "The Apache Kid", from "The Internationally Famous Ghost Town Gunfighters" of the same 1960's crew is also an executive producer of the film.

Harry Valentine, the "Golden Voice of Ghost Town," is an associate producer of the film and is responsible for making erecting a large polished granite memorial at Ghost Town along with the new owners of the theme park, to created a memorial to the original crew of gunfighters and the Hollywood greats who visited the park in the early years. The memorial will be dedicated to Robert Doyle Teaster, for his portrayal of the character "Digger the Undertaker."

Some of the cast of the movie are Herbert "Cowboy" Coward, Bill McKinney, DJ Perry, Princess Lucaj, Rance Howard, Renee O'Connor, Tony Becker, Stella Parton, Terence Knox, Sammy Kershaw, Charles Edwin Powell, Dean Teaster, Anthony Hornus, Robert Bradley, Russ Stine, Harry Valentine, Bill Steele, Paul Proios, Fred Griffith, Greg Mason, Tommy Dipple, Tom Chaudoin, Austin Two Feathers, Mark Jones, Patrick Walker, Bill Whitworth, Randall Godwin, Taymour Ghazi, Alaska Presley, Bobby Teaster, Jason Teaster, Tammy Stephens Teaster and the list go on.

Plans for Dean Teaster's Ghost Town "The Movie" are to premiere around May 2007 in conjunction with "Ghost Town in the Sky" western theme park opening.
