Grannies on Safari - A New Travel Series Debuts on American Public Television
CHICAGO, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Pat Johnson and Regina Fraser, the Grannies on Safari, announce the premier of their new national television travel series that debuted on public television October 2006. The dynamic half hour program features the adventures of these two intrepid travelers in countries around the globe. The first six episodes take viewers to South Africa (two shows), Istanbul, Turkey, Morocco, South Korea and Japan. The Grannies explore urban centers and rural hamlets and make friends with interesting and colorful people from all walks of life.
The Grannies have been best friends for decades and decided to work together in the production of a television series that would allow them to travel far and wide and make cultural connections around the world. Reinventing themselves as so many other baby-boomers are doing now, these ying and yang personalities enjoy their exploits and savor their individual discoveries. "Although we are very different," says Regina, "we manage to bring out the best in each other during our trips."
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Pat and Regina plan their journeys based on any number of factors. Sometimes we just throw a dart against a map to determine where we want to go," said Granny Pat. "It always works out and it allows us to interact closely with travel and cultural organizations in those countries we plan to visit."
The series will be airing in more than 80 cities through February 2007.
Grannies on Safari is produced by The Art Explorers, Inc. in association with Brave New Pictures, Inc., comprised of director, DP, and videographer Dave Monk and producer, writer and editor Kathy Monk. Since 1988, the Monks have produced narrative, documentary, educational, fundraising, and promotional videotapes for a wide range of clients. Their work has appeared on The Discovery Channel, NBC Nightly News, MTV, A&E Network, ESPN, PBS, CBS and at EPCOT Center in Walt Disney World. (http://www.bravenewpictures.com/).
