Children's Lifestyle Expert and Author Lisa Dunn-Dern to Host Ethiopian TV Spots

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Children's lifestyle expert and author Lisa Dunn-Dern has been engaged by ETV (Ethiopian Television) and PingNet Communications, a leading company in education and entertainment in Ethiopia, to produce and host a series of original entertaining educational spots to run in conjunction with ETV's scheduled weekend children's programming.

All the images shown on Ethiopian television are controlled by the government, and Dunn-Dern's hosting the children's programming spots received unanimous approval.

"This project has my full support. Lisa has the magic ability to bridge the gap between herself and her audience, America and Africa," said Ambassador Taye A. Selassie, Consul General of Ethiopia.

"We are thrilled to have Lisa Dunn-Dern sign on to host our children's programming. When you first meet Lisa, you are struck by her beauty. Once you get to know Lisa, you feel her warmth and an independent spirit that is unmatched," said Malcolm Parr, CFO, PingNet Communications.

"Lisa Dunn-Dern is using the medium of television to be a civilian Good Will Ambassador to Ethiopia through this program," said Jacquie Jordan, Executive Producer, Jacquie Jordan, Inc./TVGuestpert.com(TM), producer of Dunn-Dern's segments.

There are 80 million people in Ethiopia. Children ages 0-14 years are 43.7% of the total population. Although English is widely spoken, 60% of the country's population can not read or write.

The programs produced and hosted by Dunn-Dern will run every weekend morning beginning in mid-December, with reruns on weekdays.

Dunn-Dern is a former staff writer for the Fox-HBO series "ROC," and produced and directed large-scale children's theater productions in Los Angeles for eight years. She has created a series of children's books; while the stories are universal, the family featured in the illustrations is interracial. The second book in the series will be published early next year.

Dunn-Dern and her husband, entertainment attorney and arbitrator Dixon Dern, are the parents of a 14-year-old daughter. Mother and daughter co-host a monthly Internet radio program, "The Chelsea and Lisa Show," live on Global Talk Radio.
