Voters to Select All-Time Greatest Rock Group on RockinTown.com

Best Rock Album and Best Rock Band of 2006 Are Also on the Ballot

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Aside from the mid-terms, there's another important election this fall. RockinTown.com ( www.rockintown.com ) is conducting its annual a poll to determine the Greatest Rock Group/Performer of All Time and the Best Rock Album of All Time. The voting will continue at www.rockintown.com through New Year's Eve. Rock music fans can only vote once per day but are able to cast a vote daily. The final tally will be posted on RockinTown.com on January 1st, 2007.

Last year, Nirvana swept the voting, earning the Greatest Group honor while their 1991 release "Nevermind" was named the Best Rock Album of All Time.

"In early voting, Pearl Jam and Led Zeppelin are closing on Nirvana for the Greatest Group title," said Ian Lord, RockinTown.com's editor. In an even closer race, "Nevermind" is being challenged by AC/DC's "Highway To Hell," the Beatles' "Revolver" and Green Day's "American Idiot" for Best Rock Album honors. "These are early numbers, who knows how it will eventually play out," added Lord, who worked in the broadcast and music industries for 23 years. "It's fun to see what rock fans deem essential and how it changes from year to year.

This year RockinTown.com has added a new category that Nirvana can't win. Best Group of 2006 is open to any rock group that released an album of new, original music between September 2005, and December 2006. "So far, Hinder has held on to a small lead," said Lord. "But the Raconteurs, Black Stone Cherry, Papa Roach, Dirty Pretty Things and Evanescence all had impressive albums."

RockinTown.com contains biographies of more than 625 rock acts. Rock fans can test their music knowledge on 1,400 rock trivia questions. There's also a spotlight on new music and daily calendar of significant events in rock history.

"Vote early and vote often for your favorite," advised Lord.
