With the Oct. 13 release of "A Series of Unfortunate Events: The End," and just in time for Halloween, fans of Lemony Snicket will have the unique opportunity to hear the author perform with The Gothic Archies, led by The Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt, and be among the few to get copies of the 13th and final book in the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" collection signed. The event at Borders will include activities and everyone is encouraged to wear costumes to trick or treat at downtown Ann Arbor businesses.

"'A Series of Unfortunate Events' books have been favorites with Borders Kids' customers for seven 'unfortunate' years. Being able to offer them the opportunity to meet the author who has entertained them for so long is something we are delighted to do. Being able do it in our hometown on Halloween night is simply amazing," said Diane Mangan, category director of children's books. "Literacy is important to Borders and we appreciate all that Mr. Snicket has done to enchant and captivate young minds and keep them excited about reading," added Mangan.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. at the Borders store on Liberty Street, 400 wristbands will be given out to customers who plan to attend the Michigan Theater event with Lemony Snicket and The Gothic Archies and the autograph session at Borders. The wristbands, which will be color-coded, will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and will reserve a place in line at the Borders event. Customers will be called according to the color of their wristbands at the Borders event. As wristbands do not guarantee a chance to meet Mr. Snicket, customers are encouraged to pick their wristbands up early. There is a limit of one autographed book per wristband and only customers who have purchased a copy of "A Series of Unfortunate Events: The End," will be able to get a book autographed by Lemony Snicket. Copies of "A Series of Unfortunate Events: The End" and Mr. Snicket's previous titles are available for purchase at Borders stores.

To ensure Lemony Snicket is able to meet as many customers attending this event as possible, he will personalize his autograph with the name of the book's recipient only. No items other than his books will be autographed. No memorabilia will be signed and Mr. Snicket will be unable to pose for photographs at the signing table. For additional information, please contact the store at (734) 668-7652.
