Second Annual OC Block Party Raises Over $1 Million for the Tiger Woods Learning Center
Golf Clinic Featuring Tiger Woods and Fred Couples Followed by a Performance From Legends Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh of the Eagles Highlighted the 2006 Event

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- On Saturday, October 7, 2006 Tiger Woods hosted the 2nd annual Block Party at The Grove of Anaheim to benefit the Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC), a 14-acre youth-education facility located in Anaheim, Calif. The event raised over $1 million for programs at the TWLC.
Block Party guests enjoyed activities on and off the golf course including: a morning golf exhibition featuring Fred Couples and Tiger Woods followed by a round of golf at beautiful Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa.
The Grove of Anaheim served as host for the VIP reception, featuring cocktails, silent and live auctions, a gourmet dinner prepared by world-renowned chef Bobby Flay and an intimate musical performance by music icons Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh of the Eagles. Emmy-nominated Kevin James, star of the hit sitcom "The King of Queens," hosted the entertainment portion of the evening.
Live auction highlights included a Pro-Am spot at the Target World Challenge presented by Countrywide and putting lesson with Tiger Woods that sold for $40,000, as well as an autographed guitar and meet and greet with Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Tiger Woods that raised $25,000.
The OC Block Party, led by honorary co-chairs Pam and Tom Bender and Benefit Committee co-chairs Sally and Randy Crockett and Lori and Brian Hirth, is organized to thank the Orange County community for its commitment to supporting the TWLC and its students.
Launched on February 10, 2006 the TWLC is a 14 acre, youth-education facility that represents the vision of Tiger Woods and his goal to provide youth from diverse backgrounds an interactive enrichment program that will improve individual aptitude in reading, math, science and technology. As a result, youth will develop personal accountability, independence and resilience leading to greater knowledge of career options and an increase in college enrollment.
