NBC 10 News Presents a Compelling One-Hour Special That You Won't Want to Miss

'Making a Safer City: Do Something' Wednesday, October 18th at 7PM

BALA CYNWYD, Pa., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- In an ongoing effort to address the high number of murders committed in Philadelphia, NBC 10 News presents the third installment in the Murder In Philadelphia series: "Making a Safer City: Do Something," airing on Wednesday, October 18th, from 7-8PM with a live studio audience. During this hour-long special, members of NBC 10's News Team will report on steps being taken to resolve this critical issue.

"Making a Safer City: Do Something" will highlight portraits of youth murdered in Philadelphia. The portraits capturing the likeness of the victims were painted by artists from Lost Dreams on Canvas, a program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Additionally, the show will feature numerous programs ranging from the Philadelphia Police Department's Heads Up Program, an educational program teaching children violence prevention, to ASAP (After School Activities Partnership), a free service offering non-traditional after-school activities. Through spotlighting the examples of people who are doing something, the special shows viewers how they can make a difference by volunteering their time.

NBC 10's Phone Bank (1-877-NBC-WCAU) will be open from 4-8PM. Representatives from Philadelphia's community, civic and law enforcement organizations will be available to respond to viewers' inquiries about the Philadelphia murder crisis, and advise them on becoming a part of the solution, instead of the problem.
