Michigan Opera Theatre Salutes Chrysler Group for Outstanding Community Service and Contributions to Art and Culture in Detroit
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) is honoring DaimlerChrysler for its outstanding community service and its contributions to art and culture in the metropolitan Detroit area. The Company was recognized at the 20th annual Opera Ball held yesterday at the Detroit Opera House.
"We wanted to take an evening to focus on the positive and recognize Chrysler Group for the support it has given our community and our organization," said David DiChiera, Founder and General Director of Michigan Opera Theatre. "Chrysler Group has supported Michigan Opera Theatre since day one, and the contributions -- both financial and in-kind -- have been instrumental in our continued success."
"The DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund is honored to support the Michigan Opera Theatre and the diverse dance series that it brings to Detroit," said Frank Fountain, Senior Vice President - External Affairs and Public Policy and President of the DaimlerChrysler Fund. "The Michigan Opera Theatre continues to bring vibrant and vital art and culture to our region, which is why we have continued our support through the years."
Since the opening of the Michigan Opera Theatre, DaimlerChrysler has been the title sponsor of the MOT Dance Series through its philanthropic arm, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. In addition, the Company has provided the Michigan Opera Theatre with necessary support for main stage productions, educational programs, community outreach and the restoration of the Detroit Opera House.
The Opera Ball is the MOT's largest fundraiser. Revenues from the Opera Ball are used to support the company's main stage productions, as well as educational programs and community outreach throughout the state of Michigan and beyond.
Now in its 54th year, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund is the primary source of charitable grants made by DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The Fund annually supports hundreds of charitable organizations with an emphasis on community growth and enrichment, arts and culture, education, and youth development programs throughout the United States and, increasingly, the world. The Fund's Good Neighbor, Good Citizen(R) programs in 2005 included Hurricane Katrina relief, sponsorship of the acclaimed DIA exhibition, "Claudel and Rodin: Fateful Encounter," as well as operating support for the United Way for Southeastern Michigan.
