Lights, Camera, Contest: Fylmz.com Challenges Film School Students
$10,000 Prize for Film Schools added to $100,000 Grand Prize
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Fylmz.com, already offering one of the largest cash prizes in film festival history: $100,000 and distribution, is encouraging film schools to participate in the Fylmz Festival Competition with an additional $10,000 prize awarded to the school with the greatest student and alumni participation.
"Tomorrow's Martin Scorsese could be sitting in a film class today and the best way to identify that talent is to give it an audience," said Tony Vidmer, award-winning filmmaker and founder of Fylmz.com. "We're making it easy for filmmakers to get the feedback they need to grow. That, along with the community, resources, and significant rewards we offer make it an ideal place for students to interact with other filmmakers and showcase their work."
The Fylmz Festival Competition is open to any aspiring filmmaker, including film school students and other independent filmmakers. There is no selection committee, and the competitions depend entirely on the audience to choose the winners. The festival begins online with voting on trailers, posters, and synopses, and culminates in a three-day festival in Nashville, TN, where the top films will be screened and winners in the Feature Film and Short Film categories will be announced. The Feature Film prize includes a guaranteed distribution deal along with the $100,000, and the Best Short Film will receive $3,500.
While all submitted films are eligible for the main competition prizes, Fylmz.com is offering an additional $10,000 prize to the film program demonstrating the greatest participation in the competition. The winner of the $10,000 prize will be determined by the most points earned, according to terms found in the competition rules on the Fylmz.com web site.
All qualified feature and short films are accepted in the competition. The submission deadline is November 1, 2006. For complete contest details, visit http://www.fylmz.com/ .
