YES on Proposal 5 Coalition Begins TV Advertising Campaign
LANSING, Mich., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Supporters of the K-16 Coalition for Michigan's Future, the group advocating for the approval of Proposal 5 on the November ballot, announced today that television ads explaining the proposal are now on the air in most areas of Michigan. The television advertising campaign complements ongoing direct mail and telephone calls to voters statewide.
"Our statewide information effort is underway," said Tom White, Chair of the K-16 Coalition for Michigan's Future. "With a YES vote on Proposal 5, voters in Michigan will have the chance to make education funding a top priority in the state budget. When voters get the facts about Proposal 5, I'm confident they will vote YES!"
The television advertising campaign on the air today features parents with children in public schools who are deeply involved in education explaining Proposal 5 to viewers. Lisa Bond Brewer, Assistant Executive Director of the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) appears in a TV ad with her three daughters, and Lisa Hinkel, a Grand Rapids school board member, appears in another TV ad.
Proposal 5 provides for reasonable annual inflationary funding increases to public education. The K-16 Coalition for Michigan's Future is a group of statewide education organizations working together to secure full funding for Michigan's K-12 public schools, community colleges and universities.
