Music Hall to Debut New Look, New Feel at Sept. 30 Public Unveiling and Season Opening Benefit

'At Last' Campaign Kicks Off with Etta James Concert

DETROIT, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts will host a Saturday, Sept. 30 public unveiling of the "At Last" campaign featuring renovations to the facility, new and exciting artistic programs and a star studded musical lineup. The event also will serve as the season opening benefit for the Music Hall's newly invigorated schedule including a theater and dance series, popular and jazz music series and family and children's theater. Symbolically, a concert featuring classical blues, R&B, jazz and gospel legend Etta James & The Roots Band will highlight the evening. The "At Last" campaign begins at 6:30 p.m.

Other scheduled activities include an opening reception in the Music Hall's new Jazz Cafe; and a concluding after-show dinner party featuring Motown legends The Funk Brothers.

"At last, Detroit is ready to acknowledge its cultural impact on the world," said Vincent Paul, new Music Hall president and artistic director. "More musical and theatrical artists of world renowned fame have emerged from the Detroit area in the 78-year history of the Music Hall than any other single community. At last, we acknowledge our significance and are committing ourselves to continuing that legacy. We honor the days gone by as we focus on the bright future and cultivate new legends to celebrate. The 'At Last' campaign is a movement to capture and share the legendary history of the Music Hall with Detroit and the rest of the country; and also, build a new foundation that will position the Music Hall as a national destination for entertainment and culture.

"We are among a great movement happening in Detroit and you can count this evening as one of our contributions to Detroit's revitalization," said Paul.

"At Last" Campaign sponsors include Kenwal Steel Corporation and DTE Energy Foundation, with event co-chairs Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg.
